All You Really Need To Know About Villanova

It took a little while to get it all going, but the Wildcats stepped it up in the second half against Alabama, pulling away for an easy 81-58 win. They were uncharacteristically mediocre from the field, but they connected on 17 of their whopping 41 three point tries.

The Wildcats continue to be amazing from three, they’re among the most accurate shooting teams in the country, and they lead the nation averaging over 87 points per game. The offense is a machine.

All You Really Need To Know About West Virginia

Getting into the Sweet 16 might have been fun, but doing it by demolishing Marshall 94-71 was special. The Mountaineer defense might have been a little bit off, but the offense was unstoppable, hitting 12-of-25 from three, destroying the Herd on the boards, and building off a hot start for the easy win.

The defense might not be any good from three – Marshall had few issues – but coming up with takeaways isn’t a problem, and owning the glass is the norm. Great on the free throw line and at generating second-chance points, the Mountaineers make their own breaks.

What’s Going To Happen

Can the West Virginia defense continue to be nasty enough to get past the high-powered Wildcats? Not quite – Villanova will be too good from three.

The Mountaineers allow teams to hit 37% from the outside, and even though it didn’t matter against Marshall, it will against the Wildcats. It’ll be a fun, wild shootout, with Villanova committing fewer fouls and doing a wee bit more on the line.
