Breaking down and analyzing the 2018 UTEP Miners football schedule.
2018 UTEP Miners Football Schedule Analysis
– The Miners kick things off with a must-have date against Northern Arizona – just to start out with a win after going winless last season. Going to UNLV won’t be easy, and then comes the road date at Tennessee to collect a paycheck. The New Mexico State game to close up the non-conference season will determine just where the program is at.
– The C-USA world kicks off down the road at UTSA, with a chance to make a big statement in the region, and follow that up by dealing with North Texas. From September 22nd to November 17th, the Miners leave the state of Texas just once, having to go to Louisiana Tech. Rice is on the road, and the regular season closes up with a battle with Southern Miss at home.
– The East battles aren’t too bad, missing Florida Atlantic and Marshall. However, they have to go to WKU late in the season, and playing Middle Tennessee from the other division won’t be easy.
Overall, on the plus side – along with not leaving Texas too often – the big run of road games is relatively early. There aren’t two road dates in a row after the mid-September dates.
