All You Really Need To Know About Rhode Island (25-7)

(Atlantic 10), RPI: 19. 7-seed

The A-10’s best team in the regular season couldn’t get past Davidson in the tournament. Struggling late in the year, it lost three of its last five games, but it’s still a strong enough team to make a little bit of noise if it can get the offense cranked up. However, if Jared Terrell isn’t on, there’s a problem.

There’s not enough happening on the defensive boards, and there aren’t a lot of threes, but it’s one of the best teams in the country in turnover margin, it comes up with a lot of takeaways, and the defense gets the job done.

All You Really Need To Know About Oklahoma (18-13)

(Big 12), RPI: 51. 10-seed

After a total collapse late in the year – losing eight of their last ten games – they barely got in. But with Trae Young – even though he struggled late – and his 27 points per game and bombs from three, the Sooners are dangerous enough to crank up the O and come up with a few wins.

Fourth in the nation in scoring, they average 85 points per game, taking the most threes of any team in the Big 12, hitting their free throws, and going on big runs. The problem? The defense is non-existent at times in the shootouts, and when Young isn’t on, things occasionally bog down.

What’s Going To Happen

Welcome to the Trae Young show.

As good as Rhode Island might be offensively, and as tight as it might be when it comes to turnovers, they’re not going to be able to handle Young.

As bad as Oklahoma has been at times late in the year, Young has the chance to be the signature star by carrying the team for a little bit. There will be a whole lot that won’t be pretty about this, but the Sooners will outbound the Rams, and they’ll outbomb them from outside.

Get ready for Young to kick off Thursday on fire.
