All You Really Need To Know About Seton Hall (21-11)

(Big East), RPI: 31. 8-seed

Tied for third in the Big East in the regular season, the Pirates lost two heartbreakers to Villanova and Butler – both by one point – as a quick exit from the tournament. It’s a balanced team with four starters averaging 13 points or more, led by the double-double machine, Angel Delgado.

Among the nation’s leaders in blocked shots and rebounds, the team is active on the inside, but also great at defending the three. It doesn’t create a lot of easy plays with few takeaways, and hitting free throws is a rumor, but it’s a tough team that’ll make life tough for everyone inside.

All You Really Need To Know About NC State (21-11)

(ACC), RPI: 64. 9-seed

Shocking ACC Tournament loss to Boston College aside, it was a fantastic year for a Wolfpack team that finished third in the ACC regular season thanks to a three-headed scoring and rebounding monster of Allerik Freeman, Omer Yurtseven and Torin Dorn.

There are plenty of problems, starting with the mediocre defense and without enough defensive rebounds, and there are too many fouls. However, the offense moves the ball extremely well, the defense comes up with a ton of steals, and lots of easy points come off the offensive boards.

What’s Going To Happen

Seton Hall rebounds better.

The Pirates are great from the field, and they move the ball around well to create those easy opportunities, but it’s the ability on the boards that should be the difference.

The Wolfpack might be great at cranking up the offense, and they pass better than the Pirates, but the problems on the free throw line – will be the difference. That, and losing the rebounding battle in key moments.
