All You Really Need To Know About Missouri (20-12)

(SEC), RPI: 44. 8-seed

This will be a whole lot of fun now that Michael Porter Jr. is in the mix after missing most of the season with a back injury. There’s a little bit of pop from the offense – even though Kassius Robertson is one of the SEC’s best scorers – and there aren’t enough big plays from the defense, but the talent is there.

The D doesn’t force turnovers, but it does clamp down, it’s great at hitting the boards, and it’s good enough inside to have a presence. Great from three and solid at the foul line, there’s a lot to like – along with having the possible No. 1 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

All You Really Need To Know About Florida State (20-11)

(ACC), RPI: 54. 9-seed

Mediocre in the ACC, the Seminoles come limping into the NCAAs after losing three of their last four games, including to Louisville in the ACC tourney. However, it’s the type of team built to go on a bit of a run – now that it’s rested – going ten deep with a fantastic rotation around stars Terance Mann and Phil Cofer.

There’s not enough defense from three, and free throws are a major problem, but it’s a terrific team inside – it’s one of the best in the nation in blocked shots – and everyone hits the glass hard. With so much depth, FSU comes in waves, averaging close to 82 points per game.

What’s Going To Happen

Is Porter ready to carry this ultra-talented Tiger team? Maybe, but Mizzou turns it over way too often and will have a slew of problems with the deep, dangerous Noles who struggled late in the year, but have the depth.

Missouri will D up from three and do just enough to keep the high-powered FSU O in check. It’ll be sloppy at times, but this is when the Tigers start to look like the team everyone was hoping for from the start. Porter might not be All-World quite yet, but he’ll be good enough.
