All You Really Need To Know About Kentucky (24-10)

(SEC), RPI: 10. 5-seed
The Wildcats are rising up at the right time after a mediocre – for them – regular season – battling their way to the SEC Tournament championship. Even for UK, this is a young team with 12 underclassmen led by Kevin Knox inside and out, and with five players averaging double digits – actually, four, with Quade Green averaging 9.6.

This isn’t a three-point shooting team, and free throw shooting is a giant problem, but it’s an aggressive and nasty defense from three, it’s fantastic on the boards, and all those freshmen are peaking at the right time.

All You Really Need To Know About Davidson (21-11)

(Atlantic 10), RPI: 43. 12-seed

The Wildcats won eight of their last nine games on the way to beating Rhode Island for the A-10 tournament title and a spot in the fun. Peyton Aldridge is the scoring star of the show averaging almost 22 points and eight boards per game, but Kellan Grady is a big-time scorer, too. However, this isn’t a team full of firepower.

No. 1 in the nation in assist-turnover ratio, it strangely enough doesn’t come up with any steals, but it never, ever seems to screw up. The school of Steph Curry is, of course, one of the best in the country from three, and it makes just about everything on the line – it just doesn’t take a lot free throws.

What’s Going To Happen

Just … be … careful.

Everyone will automatically put KENTUCKY to go forward in the bracket to face, likely, Arizona, but Davidson is amazing at moving the ball around and phenomenal at bombing away from three.

However, UK is third in the nation at stopping teams from three, and they’re way too good on the boards for a Davidson team that doesn’t do much to get the ball. Get ready for a ton of points, and for the A-10 Wildcats to throw a mega-scare into the big boys.
