All You Really Need To Know About Duke
Dominant in the first two rounds, the Blue Devils destroyed Rhode Island 87-62, with Marvin Bagley III scoring 22 points, hitting 8-of-10 from the field. Five Duke players hit the double-digit scoring mark, in the laugher. It was about as good as a team can play.
Hitting their stride at the right time, the Blue Devils are terrific at passing the ball around, great from the field, and dominant on the boards, ranking third in the nation in rebounds. Yeah, Syracuse is know for its defense, but Duke can play a little D, too, allowing teams to hit just 40% from the field.
All You Really Need To Know About Syracuse
Defense, defense, defense. The Orange D was strong enough to roll through three games in five days, crushing TCU 57-52 and getting past Michigan State 55-53 to get into the Sweet 16. They held the Horned Frogs to just 3-of-17 from three, giving up just 24 points in the second half.
Can the offense keep up if and when Duke does on a run? The Orange led the ACC in free throws made, did a great job on the boards, and crush teams with their amazing zone defense. They might not be great from three, but they use their size to get the second chance points.
What’s Going To Happen
The two only played once in the ACC, with Duke rolling 60-44. The Blue Devils have the size to hold up with the Orange, they can hang on the boards, and they already showed they can beat them when the three isn’t falling.
Duke hit just 2-of-18 from outside in the meeting and won by 16. This time, it’ll win by playing better defense that the team that has to win on D.
