All You Really Need To Know About Auburn (25-7)

(SEC), RPI: 15. 4-seed

The Tigers lost four of their final six games, hurt most when the offense went into the tank in the SEC Tournament loss to Alabama. 16-point-per-game scorers Mustapha Heron and Bryce Brown lead a high-powered attack that averages 84 points per game – they should be able to simply win a few games by being better on offense, at least when it’s not playing Alabama.

Second in the nation in free throws made, 13th in the country in scoring, and great at forcing bad plays by coming up with steals, it’s an active team that’s great at bombing their way to wins. They’re in trouble, though, against teams that can chuck from three.

All You Really Need To Know About Charleston (26-7)

(Colonial Athletic), RPI: 57. 13-seed

Bill Murray’s adopted team has a dangerous three-headed scoring monster to deal with. Jarrell Brantley is fantastic on the inside, Joe Chealey does a little of everything right, and Grant Riller hits from the outside.

Air-tight with the ball, the Cougars are third in the nation in turnovers, they hit their free throws, and they’re active at contesting everything. They’re going to have problems with good rebounding teams, and they don’t make the key extra pass, but they can score.

What’s Going To Happen

Can the Cougars pass the ball around well enough to get past the aggressive Auburn defense, or will they bog down?

They might not turn the ball over, but they also don’t come up with any assists. Auburn is way too good on the boards, it’s too strong from three, and it’s going to kill the Cougars on the line.

Charleston is good at free throws, but Auburn will get more of them in the final five minutes, make them, and move on.
