2018 NFL Mock Draft: Before The NFL Combine, From The College Perspective

By

21. Buffalo Bills

The Pick Will Be: qb lamar jackson, louisville

The Mock Draft If Done Correctly pick …
QB Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma State

And now this gets interesting. Will Buffalo package their two picks to move up to get a franchise quarterback, or will it stay put and take the two best players on the board in what should be a sweet spot in the first round. It’s doubtful that one of the big four quarterback prospects – Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield and Allen – will still be around, but if it wants to take a swing for the fences, Lamar Jackson, you’re up.

22. Buffalo Bills (from Kansas City)

The Pick Will Be: dt da’ron payne, alabama

The Mock Draft If Done Correctly pick …
DT Maurice Hurst, Michigan

Assume Buffalo will take a quarterback of some sort with one of its picks, and beefs up the defensive interior with another. There should be a few solid tackle prospects there for the taking, including Payne – who’ll be a steal here.

23. Los Angeles Rams

The Pick Will Be: lb rashaan evans, alabama

The Mock Draft If Done Correctly pick …
LB Rashaan Evans, Alabama

The Rams got their corner in Marcus Peters – trading a bag of Fritos to get him – and now they need another linebacker to work around. In a light year for the position, Evans will slide just outside of the top 20.

24. Carolina Panthers

The Pick Will Be: ot Mike mcglinchey, notre dame

The Mock Draft If Done Correctly pick …
WR Courtland Sutton, SMU

The Panthers always seem to need a wide receiver, and there’s a distant chance Calvin Ridley could slide this far. However, they alway need more help on the offensive line, and McGlinchey – at this point – turns into a big value selection.

25. Tennessee Titans

The Pick Will Be: de arden key, lsu

The Mock Draft If Done Correctly pick …
CB Josh Jackson, Iowa

Annnnnnd, there he goes. The guy with the talent and upside to be the best player in the entire draft will finally go, with the Titans in need of pass rushing help and taking the chance on greatness here. There’s a chance they win the draft with this pick, and even if Key doesn’t work out, he’s too good a shot not to take.

Top Five Prospects Pre-NFL Combine
QB | RB | WR | TE | OG & C | OT
DE | DT | LB | CB | S

26. Atlanta Falcons

The Pick Will Be: OG Will Hernandez, utep

The Mock Draft If Done Correctly pick …
OT Kolton Miller, UCLA

Atlanta is in a nice spot. It has to find reinforcements for the offensive line, and this just so happens to be when the good guards not named Quenton Nelson will be around. Take Hernandez, plug him in for the next ten years, and move on.

27. New Orleans Saints

The Pick Will Be: te dallas goedert, South Dakota state

The Mock Draft If Done Correctly pick …
TE Dallas Goedert, South Dakota State

Don’t be shocked if Dallas Goedert goes a lot earlier than this – like, to Dallas – as he turns into the premier tight end in a weak draft for the position. The Saints have the ground game, and Drew Brees appears to still have at least one more great year left. Now the offense needs a dangerous tight end. Boom.

28. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pick Will Be: lb harold landry, boston college

The Mock Draft If Done Correctly pick …
CB Isaiah Oliver, Colorado

The Steelers will take a shot at a quarterback later, and could go with Mason Rudolph or Lamar Jackson if either one is still here, but this is too far for Landry to drop. The defense has pass rushers and hybrid options, but it’s not a bad thing to be gluttonous at the position. Landry on one side, T.J. Watt on the other, and there’s your next several years.

29. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Pick Will Be: c/g James daniels, iowa

The Mock Draft If Done Correctly pick …
WR James Washington, Oklahoma State

There won’t be the value here for the needed receiver, but the linemen will be around to grab. Considering Daniels can do a little of everything in the interior, his versatility makes him an easy get – and Leonard Fournette and Blake Bortles are happy.

30. Minnesota Vikings

The Pick Will Be: og isaiah wynn, georgia

The Mock Draft If Done Correctly pick …
OG Will Hernandez, UTEP

This is an easy one. If the Vikings don’t blow off all of their mediocre quarterbacks and goes for a stud rookie, they’ll stick here and grab the best guard available. They’ll want Will Hernandez, but won’t be upset with Wynn.

31. New England Patriots

The Pick Will Be: CB Isaiah OLiver, Colorado

The Mock Draft If Done Correctly pick …
DT Da’Ron Payne, Alabama

Bill Belichick won’t bench the Buff in the Super Bowl. And thus ends the Malcolm Butler experience.

32. Philadelphia Eagles

The Pick Will Be: lb leighton vander esch, boise state

The Mock Draft If Done Correctly pick …
RB Sony Michel, Georgia

The Eagles are in a rich-get-richer situation, able to simply take the best player available. Do they need more pass rushing help with a stockpile of terrific ends who live behind the line? Sure, why not? Vanderbilt Esch has turned into one of the hot high-risers, during the process – he’s not going to slip out of the first round.
