Meet the 5 Sun Belt Players Dominating the 2018 NFL Combine

The NFL Combine isn’t always kind to the Sun Belt, but five of the conference’s best are headed to Lucas Oil Stadium to jump, run and hoist heavy stuff.

The Sun Belt placed five badass ballers in the NFL Combine this year, which matches last year’s total. Five for an entire conference isn’t terrific. Alabama alone is represented by 13 athletes. But at least the Sun Belt isn’t regressing.

So who are these guys? Just a rabid quintet of certified butt-kickers. Yes, some superstars are missing from the invite list. Troy’s stud offensive lineman Steven Rowzee? Snubbed! Appalachian State’s terrifying DB Tee Sims? Rejected! Arkansas State’s soft-handed TE Blake Mack, and New Mexico State’s legendary RB Larry Rose III? Staying home. So to are Sun Belt superstars like Taylor Lamb, Jordan Chunn and Aaron Duckworth. All these guys deserve a trip to Indy, but only these five are deemed worthy!

Ja’Von Rolland-Jones, DE, Arkansas State

Credentials: Two-time Sun Belt Player of the Year

The Sun Belt’s all-time sack-monster (and second all-time NCAAA) is entering the Combine as a linebacker.

Colby Gossett, OL, Appalachian State

Credentials: First Team All Sun Belt

At 6-5 305, Gossett certainly fits into the shoulder pads of an NFL lineman, helping his QB Taylor Lamb rack up yards and TDs

Chandon Sullivan, Georgia State

Credentials: Third Team All Sun Belt, Senior Bowl Invitee

On of only a handful of SBC players selected to play in the Senior Bowl,  Sullivan was the leader of the Panther’s stout defense.

Trey Walker, DB, Louisiana

Credentials: Third Team All Sun Belt, Senior Bowl Invitee

The 6-2 defensive back led the Cajuns with a pair of picks in 2017 and bears the size of an NFL safety.

Jaleel Scott, WR, New Mexico State

Credentials: First Team All Sun Belt

The big, 6-6 wideout hauled in 9 TDs off 1,079 yards receiving in 2017

J’The NFL Scouting Combine runs through February 27 – March 5 in Indianapolis, featuring 300 players running, jumping, and lifting heavy weights for dudes carrying clipboards.
