Breaking down and analyzing the 2018 West Virginia Mountaineers football schedule.
2018 West Virginia Mountaineers Football Schedule Analysis
– It’s a challenging start to the season dealing with the start of the Jeremy Pruitt era at Tennessee, facing the Vols in Charlotte. Youngstown State is hardly a light and breezy FCS team to open up the home slate with, and then it’s back to North Carolina to face a nasty NC State team to close out the Big 12’s toughest non-conference slate.
– Like most Big 12 teams, the Mountaineers alternate home and road conference games throughout the year – there aren’t two home games in a row all year, and that includes the non-conference slate. But there aren’t two road games in a row to deal with, either. It might be hard to find any sort of a groove.
– All of the work needs to be all but done over the first eight games, because the last month of the season is backloaded with all the killer conference games. at Texas, TCU, at Oklahoma State, and Oklahoma.
The Mountaineers might have to come into this stretch 5-0 in conference play to have any reasonable hope if getting one of the two spots in the Big 12 Championship.
