Breaking down and analyzing the 2018 Iowa State Cyclones football schedule.
2018 Iowa State Cyclones Football Schedule Analysis
– The first month isn’t boring. South Dakota State is a terrific FCS team that’ll be just good enough to pull off the upset, especially if the Cyclones are looking ahead to the trip to Iowa and the Big 12 opener against Oklahoma.
Akron isn’t going to be a total pushover in the final non-conference game, and then September ends with a trip to TCU. Iowa State could be even better, and still go into October 2-3.
– As if dealing with the Sooners and Cowboys wasn’t a hard enough way to start out the Big 12 season, a trip to Oklahoma State is up next. On the plus side, there’s a decent home break with three home games in the next four, and a week off late in October to rest up before facing Texas Tech.
– The key to the season is a decent start – the finishing kick isn’t that bad. The Cyclones get the Red Raiders at home along with Baylor and Kansas State to close. Going to Texas is a problem, but getting a road game out of the way at Kansas isn’t bad. In all, there are only four conference road games.
