All-MAC Offensive Player of the Year
QB Logan Woodside, Sr. Toledo
It wasn’t the 45 touchdown season of two years ago, but he still threw for more yards than anyone in the MAC by a mile, and he led the way to a conference championship. The veteran hit 65% of his passes for 3,758 yards and 28 touchdowns with five picks.
CFN All-MAC Defensive Player of the Year
DE Sutton Smith, Soph. Northern Illinois
The nation’s best pass rusher, the 6-0, 225 pound new star made 56 tackles and returned two fumbles for scores. Oh yeah … and he led the nation with 14 sacks and 28.5 tackles for loss.
2017 CFN MAC Coach of the Year
Terry Bowden, Akron
Without a whole bunch of talent to work with, he turned an okay team that won five games into the MAC East champion. The Zips might have been blown out by Toledo in the title game, but they beat Ohio in the game they had to have. And now he has Akron in a bowl game.
