UAB completes its fantastic season back with a trip to the Bahamas Bowl vs. Ohio
In one of the best stories of the college football season, UAB went from being out of commission for a few years to a bowl game, getting the call from the Bahamas Bowl to take on Ohio from the MAC.
The Blazers went 8-4 highlighted by wins over Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, UTSA and Southern Miss – all are bowl eligible. Now they’re going to the second bowl game in their history, losing to Hawaii in the 2004 Hawaii Bowl.
This is the 11th bowl in Ohio’s history, losing to Troy in last season’s Dollar General Bowl. It’s been a disappointing season for the Bobcats, whose loss to Akron cost them a shot at playing for the MAC title. However, they blew out Toledo 38-10 and dominated Kansas in a 42-30 win.
It’s the fourth ever Bahamas Bowl, and the other three have been fantastic, highlighted by the all-timer of an inaugural game in 2014 when WKU beat Central Michigan in a wild 49-48 shootout.
This is the first ever meeting between the two.
