It’s an interesting late-season exhibition game for Ole Miss in its lost season, but this matters for the 4-4 Ragin’ Cajuns.
Louisiana is 4-4, coming into the game on a run of three wins in the last four games. With New Mexico State, Georgia Southern, and a trip to Appalachian State to close, getting the two wins to get an extra game is more than possible, but beating Ole Miss would be better than coming up with a win in any likely bowl game.
Ole Miss might not be all that great, and it might be a lost year, but the team’s games have been a whole lot of fun.
There’s plenty of offense, no defense, and lots of fireworks.
Both teams will turn it loose.
One Reason Why Louisiana Will Win
The future is now for the Ragin’ Cajuns.
The goal was to redshirt Levi Lewis and save him to be the main man at quarterback for the next several years, but he got in against South Alabama, and he helped pull off the win to keep bowl hopes alive.
He’s not all that big, but he can move, throwing for 110 yards and two scores with 129 rushing yards. He’s a baller who has take advantage of any any all Ole Miss mistakes. The Rebels are good for a few giveaways a game.
One Reason Why Ole Miss Will Win
Jordan Ta’amu has turned out to be fantastic.
The season appeared to be totally dead after the loss of Shea Patterson for the season, but Ta’amu stepped in and threw for 368 yards with 76 on the ground and two scores in the shootout against Arkansas and followed it up with a huge performance against Kentucky.
The Rebels came through with a nice road win, with Ta’amu connecting on 31-of-40 passes for 382 yards and four scores. Now he should bomb away without a problem.
The Ragin’ Cajun defense has a little bit of a pass rush, but the secondary gives up big plays and it’s about to get hit really, really hard.
ULL will be able to score a bit. It Ta’amu is on, Ole Miss will be able to score a whole lot more.
What’s Going To Happen
Even after struggling to put points on the board in the 19-14 win over South Alabama, Louisiana-Lafayette will get the offense moving a little bit as it gives the Rebels a little bit of a fight. But the defense isn’t nearly good enough to keep Ta’amu and the Rebel offense from exploding in the third quarter on three straight scoring drives.
