It might just be among the most interesting rivalry games of the weekend.

It’s probably Lamar Jackson’s final regular season game – he’s rocketing up the NFL Draft charts – and it’s a shot to get revenge after losing in last year’s showdown.

On a nice run winning three of the last four games, the Cardinals aren’t all that great, but they’re wildly entertaining.

Kentucky has been interesting, too, but it’s been wildly inconsistent alternating each loss with a win over the second half of the season. It beat Missouri, lost to Miss State, beat Tennessee, lost to Ole Miss, beat Vanderbilt, lost to Georgia …

Can it follow the pattern with a win and somehow come up with a repeat of last year’s amazing 41-38 UK thriller – one of the best games of the 2016 season?

Both teams are going bowling, so this is all about the rivalry aspect.

It should be a blast.

One Reason Why Louisville Will Win

Kentucky doesn’t have too much of an offense, averaging a mediocre 352 yards per game, but the pass defense is the bigger issue ranking last in the SEC allowing 268 yards per outing.

This week, the run defense will have a few problems, too.

Obviously, dealing with Lamar Jackson is always a problem, but the Cardinals have rushed for 293 yards or more in three of their last five games – and 411 last week against Syracuse – with Malik Williams taking off for 180 yards and two scores against the Orange.

Teams that tried to run against UK have been able to do it. Mississippi State did just fine, and so did Tennessee. Last week, Georgia rumbled for 381 yards and five touchdowns.

The Cardinal ground game will have some fun.

One Reason Why Kentucky Will Win

Here’s the deal, Kentucky. You might not like it, and it might not be what you’re about this season, but you’ve got to crank up that offense and it has to go OFF.

You can’t shut down the Cardinal offense. Lamar Jackson is too good, the offense is too good, and the explosion is too good.

You want to beat Louisville, UK? No, do you really want to beat this team?

You’d better come up with 500 yards of total offense.

Louisville is 7-0 this season when the opposing team doesn’t crank up at least 500 yards, and 0-4 – Clemson, NC State, Boston College, and Wake Forest – when it allows more.

Last year, Kentucky put up 581 yards to beat Louisville, but …

What’s Going To Happen

Kentucky has yet to come up with more than 486 yards.

The Wildcats will play decent defense for a while, but after last year’s loss – throwing three picks, to go along with all of the magnificence – Jackson is going to be Jackson with a magnificent performance to make a claim to be on everyone’s Heisman ballot.
