What’s Going To Happen

UNLV settled down, and now it’s producing.

It has talent, and it has potential, but it hasn’t been able to quite put it all together. And now, even after after the Howard loss, and the clunker against Utah State, and the loss to a mediocre Air Force, it’s still alive for a bowl game.

When it comes to a measuring stick moment for Tony Sanchez and the program, getting to six wins would be massive.

And there’s no excuse.

BYU is awful. New Mexico is awful. Nevada is awful. And all UNLV has to do is win two of those three games.

On the other side are the Cougars. They played well in a loss to a strong Fresno State team with the potential to play for the Mountain West title, but they still can’t score – losing 20-13 – and now they lost QB Tanner Mangum for the season.

UNLV has something in RB Lexington Thomas, and the play of QB Johnny  Stanton has been a steadying factor, even though Armani Rogers is the star of the near-future.

BYU can’t move the chains, can’t get the ground game going, and it’s not making anything big happen with the special teams. In UNLV’s last home game of the year, the Cougars aren’t going to start scoring in bunches now.

The hot Rebels keep the momentum going.
