What’s Going To Happen

Alabama is the nation’s No. 1 team again, even if it isn’t quite playing like it.

The Crimson Tide might be in the CFP top spot, but they struggled to get by Mississippi State and needed a little too much work to get by LSU.

And now comes the Auburn panic setting in. The Tigers are looking great, and the world will be jumping on the bandwagon next week.

No, blowing away Mercer won’t prove anything, and it would be really, really smart to not play anyone who matters for more than a drive or so, but it would be nice if the team started to finally look the part again, even if it’s against an FCSer.

Mercer has been solid winning five games with an efficient passing game and a decent enough defense to get by at the lower level.

The Bears were able to play Auburn relatively well, only losing 34-10 in mid-September. And now Tide fans will be using this as a measuring stick to try finding something that can give them a clue for what’s coming next.

Great when it comes to turnover margin and taking the ball away, Mercer will be more than a speed bump. But this is the light scrimmage to heal up and get ready for the Iron Bowl.

The Tide D will do its job, and the offensive first teams will put this away in the middle of the second quarter, but there will be about 793 things to make Nick Saban mad.
