WVU Defeats Albany in Charity Exhibition Game d
Behind Lamont West’s 26-point performance, WVU defeats Albany in charity exhibition.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va.–Lamont West scored 26 points and West Virginia defeated Albany 98-67 in Saturday’s charity exhibition, benefiting the American Red Cross’ hurricane relief fund.
West shot 57.1 percent from the floor and made 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. Beetle Bolden added 16 points. Jevon Carter and Teddy Allen both had 15 for the Mountaineers.
WVU forced 24 turnovers, leading to 38 points. The Mountaineers had 10 steals.
American Red Cross volunteers raised a total of $27,139.56.
Travis Charles scored 15 points for the Great Danes. Joe Cremo had 14 points.
WVU shot 41 percent from the field, 37 percent from 3-point range and 73 percent from the charity stripe.
Albany shot 38 percent from the floor, 33 percent from 3 and 67 percent from the free throw line.
The Mountaineers were without Esa Ahmad (suspended) and Maciej Bender (back spasms).
WVU opens the regular season on Friday, Nov. 11, at Ramstein-Meisenbach Air Force Base in Germany against Texas A&M.
