What’s Going To Happen
Welcome back to the Mike Price era at UTEP – at least for the rest of the season.
With Sean Kugler gone, now it’s up to 71-year-old former Miner head man – and former Washington State coach, and for a cup of coffee, the Alabama head coach – who had a wee bit of success with the program. He went 48-61, but he got the Miners to two bowl games.
But he’ll have to work a miracle to get this UTEP season to turn around in a hurry.
WKU might not be the team it was over the last few years, but it should be able to go on a run with a relatively easy October ahead.
The Miners don’t have any downfield passing game, they can’t get into the backfield, and they’re dead last in the nation in total offense, coming up with just 221 yards per game.
The Hilltoppers aren’t showing off any running game with an offense that’s fallen off the map after last year, but the defense has stunningly been a rock.
WKU doesn’t do anything particularly well, but the D won’t give up a thing – even with Price back taking over the O.
