Washington, time to gear it up. You’re the Pac-12’s last and only hope.

Washington State has just one loss and could still get into the College Football Playoff by winning out, but it’s not going to happen with a brutal final four games to get through.

Washington still has to go to Stanford, but four of the last five games are at home, and now it’s time to step up the overall play after clunking in a 13-7 loss at Arizona State two weeks ago.

So you’ll forgive Pac-12 officials if they’d like to see the Huskies get back on a roll to make a run at the CFP.

UCLA certainly doesn’t care about the league’s feelings right now.

With two wins in the last three games, and with USC looking vulnerable, the Bruins are still in the race for the weird Pac-12 South. But there can’t be another miss with Utah, ASU and USC coming up over the next three weeks.

Beat Washington, and all of a sudden, Jim Mora’s job security isn’t a question – at least for another week.

One Reason Why UCLA Will Win

Finally, Washington played someone who could throw a forward pass, and it miserably failed the test.

The secondary hadn’t been challenged all year, and then Arizona State and Manny Wilkins couldn’t seem to miss. The Sun Devils hit over 70% of their passes for 245 yards – a season-high allowed by the Huskies. And now it’s Josh Rosen’s turn to try slinging it around and pushing the Dawg D a bit.

No. 1 in the Pac-12 in third down conversions, Rosen and the Bruin offense know how to keep things moving put up big numbers. More often than not it’s out of survival mode, but if ASU could move the ball through the air, Rosen should go ballistic as long as he gets time to work.

One Reason Why Washington Will Win

Myles Gaskin, your table is ready.

The Washington running game hasn’t been able to find a steady groove. It’s had its moments, and it scored a ton of touchdowns over a five-game stretch, but the production hasn’t been there.

Washington, meet the UCLA run defense.

The worst in the nation, it’s getting hammered up front and the tackling hasn’t been much better in the back seven. Granted, the numbers are a bit off dealing with Arizona’s Khalil Tate and Stanford’s Bryce Love, but that’s sort of the point – everyone’s fattening up on this D.

Jake Browning should be able to balance out the O a bit, but as long as Gaskin and the ground game are rumbling, Rosen will be on the sidelines.

What’s Going To Happen

Washington will come out with a serious purpose after having to spend the last two weeks sitting and spinning on the Arizona State loss. One of the nation’s top defenses will be all over Rosen from the start, and it’ll hold the Bruins to around 50 rushing yards.

The Dawgs will have their day.
