What’s Going To Happen
The Bulls can’t and won’t be in a game anywhere close to being as interesting as the seven-overtime loss to Western Michigan, but they’ve proven they can put up a good fight.
With a solid defense – yes, even after allowing 71 points – and an interesting offense that can do a little of everything, this is a dangerous team that could screw up NIU’s run to the MAC title game.
The Huskies did what they were supposed to do against Kent State, but now starts a run of three road games in four, with Toledo coming at the end of that rainbow.
This might be the team’s biggest MAC test outside of the battles with the the Rockets and Western Michigan. Call this a measuring stick moment. If NIU rolls on the road, it’ll be time to think this might really be a special year.
This isn’t a special offensive NIU team, but the defense has been terrific. It leads the MAC in total defense and is No. 1 in the nation in tackles for loss. Buffalo’s O line, though, has been solid, and the offense okay with good things happening deep.
NIU will win, but it’ll be a defensive fight to get through this. UB, once again, will look solid in a tough loss.
