What’s Going To Happen
Really, Middle Tennessee? You’re good enough to beat Syracuse but you can’t get past UAB?
It’s been a disappointing year for a Blue Raider team that lost its stars early on, and now the offense isn’t working like it was supposed to and the defense isn’t able to lock down in key moments.
John Urzua is trying to get the passing game going, but two picks and ten Blue Raider penalties helped open the door for UAB. Do that against the Herd, and it’s over.
Marshall’s offense hasn’t exactly been a prize, but the defense held punchless Charlotte and Old Dominion teams to a field goal each. The Thundering Herd schedule has been a total nothing burger outside of the loss to NC State, but 5-1 is 5-1, and now, with a win, they’re bowl eligible.
The Marshall offensive front has been terrific, but the offensive firepower isn’t there to put this away fast – the door will be open. This is Middle Tennessee’s last shot to get back into the East race, and it’s going to play like it.
Unfortunately for the Blue Raiders, the turnovers will follow.
Marshall will sputter, but the pass rush and the play behind the line will be just enough to force a few key mistakes. It’ll be a grind, and there won’t be anything pretty, but the Herd will get by. It’s not going to be aesthetically pleasing football, but it’ll be effective for the East leader.
