Kirby Smart Unamused By The Release Of The College Football Playoff Rankings
The first College Football Playoff rankings will be released Tuesday night and will be aired on ESPN at 7pm.
Georgia should expect to be ranked either number one or two when the first rankings are revealed on Tuesday. Though UGA is number two in the AP and Coaches poll, the Dawgs have a valid shot on earning the top ranking due to their impressive win in South Bend.
Kirby Smart, however, is unamused by the initial rankings. When asked if he would pay much attention to its release, Smart responded as we could have all predicted.
“No, not really,” Smart said. “It’s just a matter of how we finish.”
In Smart’s eyes, the rankings are a “distraction.”
“You talk about rat poison a lot, things like that,” Smart said with a smile. “But we don’t really have to address if you confront it from the beginning. So the rankings that have been coming out to this point, the AP, the same thing, it’s just a distraction. It’s just a matter of who can manage it best and which team’s mature enough to handle it. Because it has zero outcome on performance on Saturday. It’s only a distractive measure that we have to contend with.”
