Georgia needs to get past this in a big hurry, and then move on.

No drama, no problems, no concerns. Just get in, roll up a bad Missouri team trying to do anything to get its season going, and then go rest up for the showdown with Florida.

A reasonable case could be made that the Dawgs belong in the top spot, or close to it, with a defense as good as any the program has had in a long, long time, and an offense that’s putting teams away without an issue.

But now it’s time to focus.

Missouri pushed Kentucky last week in a 40-34 firefight, but that’s as close as it’s been to being interesting since the 72-43 opener against Missouri State.

However, with Idaho and Connecticut up next, if Mizzou could somehow pull this off, they’ll almost certainly be 4-4 going into November.

One Reason Why Georgia Will Win

Missouri can’t hang on to the ball, and it continues to be an issue.

The Tigers have yet to win the turnover margin, and the one time they were even, they won against Missouri State. They’re -10 against everyone else.

The defense isn’t doing anything to take over games, with a mere two takeaways since that opener with no fumble recoveries. Meanwhile the offense has given it away 14 times so far.

Lots of mistakes, ranking dead last in time of possession, and with shaky coverage teams – the Tigers do too many things wrong to pull this off.

One Reason Why Missouri Will Win

Start throwing, keep throwing, hope for the best.

Last week was the first time since the opener that Missouri opened it up, hitting Kentucky for 355 yards and three touchdowns in one of the team’s only positive offensive performances on the year.

No one has done much against the Georgia secondary so far, partially because no one so far has the passing game firepower.

Mississippi State’s Nick Fitzgerald is good, and Vanderbilt’s Kyle Shurmur is solid in a game manager sort of way, but Mizzou’s Drew Lock knows how to push the ball around. This is the time to take a few chances. This is the game to put the pressure on Georgia by turning it loose.

What’s Going To Happen

Georgia will crank out the ground game from the start, and there’s nothing Missouri can do about it.

Lock will get a few big plays in, but he’ll also give up three picks, the Bulldog offense will capitalize on all the mistakes, and this will be over and done with by midway through the third quarter.
