What’s Going To Happen
Check out Boise State wanting to be the star of the Mountain West again.
Forgotten about after losing to Washington State and Virginia, this was supposed to be San Diego State’s league – and it still might be. But last week, the Bronco defense looked the part again in a dominant performance to take down the Aztecs 31-14 on the road.
Colorado State is still in the mix for the Mountain division, and even though it’s not playing well, so is Wyoming.
The Cowboys aren’t getting much out of the offense – only San Jose State has scored fewer points – and Josh Allen isn’t coming with the season everyone expected, but they’re still 2-0 in Mountain West play. If they can shock Boise State, the defending division champs will be back where they were last season.
Wyoming has no running game whatsoever, and at best, Allen has been pedestrian – welcome to the frothing at the mouth Bronco defense.
Boise State’s run defense leads the Mountain West and just shut down Rashaad Penny and the San Diego State offense – it’s not going to give up a thing on the ground.
The league’s best pass rush will hound and harass Allen in what will quickly turn into an ugly revenge win.
If Boise State wanted to show last week that this was its conference, this week, it’s about taking its division back.
