What’s Going To Happen
Colorado State might have something to say about it, but it’s not a bad thing if this is a preview of the Mountain West title game.
The Aztecs keep on rolling along, and finally, they stopped playing up or down to the competition with a blowout win at UNLV. But now the focus has to be there against a Boise State team that’s been good, but hasn’t quite been the dominant force it usually is.
The offense can’t seem to find any sort of a groove – that was a problem last year – and the defense has been shockingly spotty, but with one win at San Diego State, this becomes Boise State’s Mountain West again – at least for now.
The big problem for the Broncos? This isn’t the team to face when you’re trying to get your offense going.
The line hasn’t been good, the running game has been awful, and as good as Brett Rypien has been at ties, the offense as a whole hasn’t been consistent enough.
The run defense should be give Rashaad Penny a tough time – if all goes according to plan – but San Diego State has a efficient enough passing game to keep things moving if all eyes are on the nation’s leading all-purpose yardage machine.
The Aztecs won’t allow a thing against the run, the offense won’t give the ball away, and even though it’ll be a fight, it’ll be a muscle-flexing moment.
The current king of the conference isn’t getting off its throne any time soon.
