Not every dinner can be your favorite.

Not every week will be 70%, but the key in the bad weeks is to minimize the damage. 4-6 isn’t acceptable, but it wasn’t a total wipeout. That’s not how we roll around here.

If there isn’t a 10-team parlay win here, we’re not doing our job.

Of course, these are all just for fun and giggles. So here you go with the ten best picks and predictions against the spread for Week 6.

10 Best ATS Picks So Far: 11-9

Click on each game for the game preview and fearless prediction.

Starting with five that didn’t quite make the cut, but are still spicy …

Kentucky -10 over Missouri
Marshall -15.5 over Charlotte
Arkansas -1.5 over South Carolina
Iowa State +28 over Oklahoma
Illinois +18 over Iowa

Week 6: 10 Best Predictions ATS

10. Penn State at Northwestern

LINE: Penn State -14.5, o/u: 53
ATS PICK: Northwestern

It doesn’t make much sense since Northwestern is bad and Penn State isn’t, but the Wildcats are 7-0 ATS the last seven times as a double-digit underdog – including last week against Wisconsin – and usually win outright. Penn State’s explosion could turn the lights out in a hurry, but NU is way, way, way overdue for a good performance.

9. UCF at Cincinnati

LINE: UCF -17, o/u: 55

This should be higher, but 17 feels like a whole lot of points to give up on the road against a team good enough to still think about going bowling. However, Cincinnati just got whacked around at home Marshall in a 17-point loss – UCF is a whole lot better than the Herd.

The Knights are doing absolutely everything right, including blowing away the Memphis team that beat UCLA 40-13, and stomping on the Maryland team that beat Texas and Minnesota 38-10.

8. Ole Miss at Auburn

LINE: Auburn -21, o/u: 57
ATS PICK: Auburn

Has Ole Miss shown you anything to suggest it can hang with an Auburn team on a roll? The Tigers just destroyed Mississippi State by 39, and crushed a bad Missouri team by 37.

Ole Miss isn’t a whole lot better than the Bulldogs or Mizzou Tigers.

Forget about the Alabama 63-point loss, the Rebels couldn’t do much offensively against Cal, either. The Auburn defense will have it dialed in early.

7. Colorado State at Utah State

LINE: Colorado State -8.5, o/u: 64
ATS PICK: Colorado State

Okay, so this is very, very dangerous, and it should probable be lower on the list, but Colorado State is a whole lot better than Utah State.

Okay, so Utah State has been amazing lately.

The Rams have the offensive balance to match everything the Aggies do, and the defense has been terrific so far, but Utah State has blown out San Jose State and BYU 101-34 over the last two weeks.

It also got rolled by Wake Forest.

Colorado State’s pass rush will get the job done, and QB Nick Stevens will have a nice day.

6. West Virginia at TCU

LINE: TCU -13.5, o/u: 68.5
ATS PICK: West Virginia

West Virginia has a dangerous enough offense – and a rested team overall – to keep up the pace in a likely shootout. The Mountaineers had a bad first half against Virginia Tech, and haven’t been stopped ever since, putting up 56 points or more in each of their last three games.

TCU might be humming, and it has double-digit wins over Arkansas and Oklahoma State on the road, but again, West Virginia and Will Grier should be able to make this a fight.

5. Notre Dame at North Carolina

LINE: Notre Dame -14, o/u: 58.5
ATS PICK: Notre Dame

Yeah, Brandon Wimbush is hurting, but you could play quarterback for the Irish and put up big numbers against a North Carolina team devastated by injuries.

Don’t forget about the Notre Dame defense that has yet to allow more than 20 points – including to Georgia or Michigan State.

Combine the D with the ground game against a Tar Heel team that’s managed just 24 points over the last two weeks, and this shouldn’t be too much of a problem for the red-hot Irish.

4. Georgia at Vanderbilt

LINE: Georgia -17.5, o/u: 41
ATS PICK: Georgia

Vanderbilt might be have been a problem for Georgia at times over the last few years, and the defense really is decent, but there’s nothing happening to suggest a Bulldog slip.

The Georgia defense is just good enough to shut down the Commodore offense to a dead stop – it’s allowed just three points over the last two weeks and only an amazing Notre Dame team came up with more than two touchdowns.

Vanderbilt has been outscored 97-24 over the last two games by Alabama and Florida – Georgia is better than the Gators and not all that much worse than Bama.

3. Michigan State at Michigan

LINE: Michigan -10, o/u: 39.5
ATS PICK: Michigan

Take the emotion and the rivalry moment out to this. Michigan State … can’t … run well enough.

The Michigan run defense has been a brick wall, the Spartans were shut down cold at times by an okay Iowa D, and now at home, the Wolverines will step up and shine late to pull away.

It’s a long, long game, and Michigan will wear down MSU as the game goes on. No one’s come closer than 16 against Harbaugh’s club.

2. Maryland at Ohio State

LINE: Ohio State -31, o/u: 58.5
ATS PICK: Maryland

Yes, there’s a chance Max Bortenschlager goes Max Bortenschlager and the Terps wet themselves in Columbus.

Point taken.

But this is still a Maryland team that went to Texas and won, even when everything was breaking down late.

This is still a Maryland team that went to Minnesota last week and pitched a gem even with a third-string quarterback under center.

Ohio State is absolutely playing at a high level, but you’re really going nuts over beating Army, UNLV and Rutgers? Maryland isn’t Army, UNLV or Rutgers.

1. Kansas State at Texas

LINE: Texas -3.5, o/u: 50

This is more of a line play than a team belief. Texas showed its mettle by going to a Iowa State in a tough setting in a strange weeknight game and was terrific defensively.

The Longhorns proved themselves against USC on the road, and have shown that this isn’t the same team that had so many problems over the last few years.

Kansas State doesn’t have the pop or the firepower against a good defense if the running game slows down – don’t be fooled by wins over Central Arkansas, Charlotte and Baylor.

Remember, Vanderbilt all of a sudden thought it was really, really good after stuffing K-State in a 14-7 win – and then Alabama delivered the truth a week later.

Texas is at home, Texas is better than Kansas State, and Texas is only giving up 3.5.
