After the offense kicked in over the last six quarters, West Virginia gets a shot at tuning things up even more before going into Big 12 play at Kansas.
It’s a depth chart game.
Delaware State hasn’t won a game and should struggle to stay alive after the first quarter. Even after beating East Carolina 56-20, the Mountaineers have to work on the pass rush and tighten up the secondary a wee bit.
One Reason Why Delaware State Will Win
The return game is just good enough to spring a few big plays here and there. The Hornets have one the best punting games in the FCS, Fatu Sun-Godinet is is helping them average over 13 yards per punt return, and the kickoff returners are just dangerous enough to make the Mountaineers try.
One Reason Why West Virginia Will Win
Someone has to catch all of Will Grier’s throws. So far, David Sills has been one of the team’s breakout stars, averaging over 15 yards per grab with 16 catches for 247 yards and five scores. He hit Virginia Tech for nine catches and destroyed East Carolina with seven carries for 153 yards and three scores.
Hampton’s Delmon Williams threw for 305 yards and three scores in the 28-15 win over Delaware State last week – all the parts of the Mountaineer passing puzzle should roll.
What’s Going To Happen
Grier will take target practice for a half, the Mountaineers will roll up points at will, and then it’ll be all about getting the rest of the parts some live game reps.
