For all of the problems, and all of the issues, and all the screaming, and all of the ugliness, and all of the speculation, Texas A&M is 3-1 and one all-timer of a quarterback performance by Josh Rosen away from being 4-0.

It was a struggle to get by Nicholls State, and later Arkansas in overtime, but 3-1 isn’t awful. With Alabama and a trip to Florida coming up, 4-1 might be a must.

South Carolina has been able to get to 3-1 with smoke and mirrors. The offense hasn’t been able to score enough over the last few weeks, and while the defense has picked up the slack, it’s been a fight.

The Gamecocks just aren’t going to be aesthetically pleasing under Will Muschamp.

But no matter how it all looks, the winner of this game will be sitting pretty.

One Reason Why Texas A&M Will Win

The South Carolina has been able to move the ball, but where are the points?

The Gamecocks were more efficient and even more explosive over the last two games than they were over the first two, but they’ve scored just 30 points over those two games after putting up 66 in the first two.

And why? Deebo Samuel had a little bit to do with it, taking two kickoffs for scores in the first two games, and the O came up with two red zone touchdowns in each of them. In the last two games, the offense got inside the 20, but only scored one touchdown in each.

Long explanation short, the Gamecocks aren’t hitting their short putts.

Against a Texas A&M team that appears to be figuring it out offensively – the maturation each game from QB Kellen Mond has something to do with that – USC can’t settle for three.

One Reason Why South Carolina Will Win

The Texas A&M offensive line has been outstanding for the running game, but it’s not doing much to keep Mond from getting popped. So far, the Aggies have allowed 29 tackles for loss and 12 sacks.

Enter the South Carolina defensive front that hasn’t quite been able to build off its outstanding performance against NC State, but has the pieces in place to come up with a decent performance.

On the other side of the ball, QB Jake Bentley has been on fire, hitting over 64% of his passes in each of the last three games. He gave up two key picks against Kentucky, but he’s been careful with the ball overall.

While Arkansas QB Austin Allen had too many misfires, but he still came up with several big passes. On the year, A&M is allowing an average of over 300 yards per game.

Bentley will have a solid day.

What’s Going To Happen

Again, it’s going to fly a bit under the radar, but Texas A&M is going to start 4-1.

The running game has been excellent, and with Mond getting better and better, the offense is starting to find its groove.

The defense might not be anything special, and South Carolina will be able to move the ball, but the A&M offense will be a wee bit more effective.

The Gamecocks aren’t good enough at scoring when they have the chance.
