Nevada vs Toledo Game Preview
The Wolf Pack defense will be facing a very tough passing attack.
Can Nevada upset Toledo in their home opener?
The Nevada Wolf Pack will have their home opener against the Toledo Rockets. Nevada is looking for their first win of the season, after losing to Northwestern last week. Toledo is looking to add another win, after defeating Elon by 34 points last week.
Ty Gangi will be getting the start for Nevada and needs to make improvements from last week’s performance. Gangi only completed 43% of his passes, but had threw two touchdowns last week. Logan Whiteside has been in discussion for being one of the best college football quarterbacks and will be a huge threat against Nevada’s defense.
Running Back Jaxson Kincaide for Nevada looked hard to tackle and showed off his speed with 86 rushing yards. With Nevada using an Air-Raid offense under head coach Jay Norvell, will see if Kincaide get more touches against Toledo.
Toledo’s running backs Shakif Seymour and Art Thompkins both combined on the ground for 201 rushing yards and one touchdown against Elon and will look to do the same against Nevada.
The wide receiver corps for both sides are equally matched with Nevada having Mclane Mannix, Wyatt Demps, and Kaleb Fossum and Toledo has Cody Thompson, Diontae Johnson, and Jon’Vea Johnson.
The offense for Nevada needs to get off to quick start and Gangi can’t miss his open targets. For Toledo, they need to run out the clock and Woodside needs to continue to be consistent to win this game.
The advantages for Nevada’s defense is the defense line lead by Malik Reed, the linebackers are lead by Austin Paulhus, and the secondary is lead by Dameon Baber. Nevada’s defense has improved from last season and see how much it will improve against Toledo.
The defense for Toledo has a strong secondary and an experienced linebacking core that will give Nevada’s offense troubles. The main players on defense for Toledo are Ja’Wuan Woodley, Tyler Taafe, and Trevon Mathis. This game will be close and exciting to watch for the Wolf Pack fans.
My prediction for this game is 28-24, Toledo defeats Nevada.
