What’s Going To Happen

After being humbled in a blowout loss at Syracuse, can Central Michigan bounce back and play like the team that rolled over Kansas on the road?

This is the eye of the storm. The Chippewas are coming off a two-game road trip, an go back on the road for two games – and, oh yeah, it’s the MAC opener.

Miami fought hard in the rivalry loss to Cincinnati, and it fought hard in a tough loss to Marshall. Now it has to fight hard and win with a date at Notre Dame to follow.

The RedHawks haven’t been able to explode yet, but the offense has been able to control the clock and the defense has been good at taking the ball away.

The run defense has been strong, too, and now CMU has to overcome the solid all-around MU play to generate a big day from the offense.

MISERABLE on third downs – converting just 25% of the time – Central Michigan has to keep the chains moving and can’t rely on the takeaways that have been coming. The Chips have 11 takeaways so far, but MU doesn’t give the ball up.

The veteran CMU team has to generate some sort of pressure on Gus Ragland and needs a big day early to make MU press. The RedHawks can throw, but the running game isn’t there to take control of the game.
