Score: Kentucky 27, Eastern Kentucky 16
Prediction: Kentucky 37, Eastern Kentucky 17
Kentucky 27, Eastern Kentucky 16
1. Eastern Kentucky isn’t all that bad, but that was way, way too much of a fight. The running game was fine, and Stephen Johnson played well, but it took a rally to put the Colonels away – just take it.
This is a You Are What Your Record Is 2-0 start for UK. The O hasn’t been pretty, it’s been a struggle, but 2-0 is 2-0 with a trip to South Carolina up next.
2. Stephen Johnson completed 15-of-22 passes for 224 yards and a score, and ran for 48 yards and a key score. Benny Snell added 103 yards and a touchdown for a ground game that averaged over five yards per carry.
3. There weren’t any turnovers, and the Cats won the penalty battle 11-6. They played fine, they got out alive, and now they can move on. Consider this a tune-up for what’s next, and more than anything else, be happy about the D. It played well over the first two weeks.
