Kellen Mond was supposed to play like a true freshman, and didn’t.

Arkansas was playing in Jerry Jones’ house, wearing uniforms to honor the Dallas Cowboys and kiss up to owner, and Mond screwed it all up.

Christian Kirk had a little something to do with that, too.

Kirk caught five passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns, and returned a kickoff for a key turnaround touchdown to help the Aggies keep pace, but this game was all about the rise of the true freshman quarterback.

Mond struggled when thrown into an awful situation at UCLA, and he had issues at times getting the offense going over the first part of the season.

But on the big stage, in the big house, in front of the big man, Mond was up to the task, completing 14-of-27 passes for 216 passes and two scores with a pick, and ran for a team-high 109 yards.

Arkansas needed the young man to melt. It needed him to be outplayed by veteran quarterback Austin Allen, and it needed him to screw up in the clutch.

Mond didn’t, and because of that, he spoiled the party. Mond didn’t, and because of that, Texas A&M is 3-1 with hope to get this season rolling.
