McVey can do it all, and he’ll get more chances to prove it in 2017.
When you’re a team like the Air Force Falcons, with a run-heavy offense that’s averaged 765 rushing plays per year since 2010, you’re used to having a stable of very good fullbacks and tailbacks who make that system work. This year, however, one of those runners might have an outsized influence on just how high the Falcons can fly in 2017.
Tim McVey only had 84 carries last fall, but you’d be hard pressed to find another athlete who did as much with so few touches. He led Air Force with 13 total touchdowns — ten rushing, two receiving, and one as a kick returner — finished third on the team with 708 yards, good for 8.4 yards per carry, and finished tenth in the Mountain West in all-purpose yards.
With he and quarterback Arion Worthman (another top 50 selection) operating in the same backfield this year, the Falcons should once again make lives miserable for defensive coaches across the Mountain West.
