Bennett could easily be the next in a recent line of NFL-caliber Rams.
It was easy to see that the Colorado State Rams offense found another gear in the second half of the 2016 season. While their skill position players certainly deserve a good deal of credit, it was easy to overlook the offensive line, especially those on the interior.
Jake Bennett was a second-team all-conference performer last year, but he anchored a unit that allowed just 13 sacks on the season (and just one in the last six games, in 145 dropbacks), ranked 11th in Stuff Rate (runs tackled at/behind the line of scrimmage), 9th in Power Success Rate (first down or touchdown on third/fourth down runs with two or less yards to go, or TD on first/second and goal with two yards or less to go), and 2nd in points per trip inside the 40-yard line.
Don’t be surprised if Bennett puts together another all-conference caliber year and becomes the next in a recent line of Rams linemen selected in the NFL Draft, following Weston Richburg and Ty Sambrailo to the pros. If he does, the Rams will be very tough to beat.
