If the Rebels offense rolls in 2017, look for Boyd to be a big reason why.
Injuries may have slowed UNLV wide receiver Devonte Boyd last fall, but our staff didn’t let that affect his overall standing, as he is next on our list of the Mountain West’s best.
After back-to-back 900-yard seasons in 2014 and 2015, Boyd caught 45 passes for 746 yards and four touchdowns in the ten games he played last fall. All three figures led among Rebels receivers, as did his catch rate (53.6%, some of which is owed to erratic QB play), yards per catch (16.6), and Success Rate (50%).
Assuming his health remains intact, Boyd is a near-lock to become the program’s all-time leading receiver by the end of 2017. He’s also a good bet to become UNLV’s first 1,000-yard receiver since Devante Davis in 2013. With a new young quarterback, Armani Rogers, at the helm of the offense, we may not have even seen Boyd’s ceiling yet, either, which makes him one of the conference’s must-watch athletes.
