Ginda will be key to a Silicon Valley renaissance.
The San Jose State Spartans may not be anyone’s idea of a Mountain West contender in 2017, but they have pieces on both sides of the ball to build around going forward, including the next athlete in our top 50.
Linebacker Frank Ginda is this year’s top-ranked Spartan after quietly emerging as one of the best defenders in the Mountain West last fall. He made ten starts for San Jose State, leading the team with 99 tackles and 11.5 tackles for loss and finishing second with 6.5 sacks. On top of that, Ginda also forced and recovered two fumbles, throwing in an interception for good measure.
With two years of experience under his belt, the junior could be a dark horse for the conference’s defensive player of the year honor and will certainly be an integral part of the transition to the Brent Brennan era.
