Even if he’s on everyone’s radar now, the Mountain West’s most productive returning receiver will be tough to stop.
The Colorado State Rams figured to have a tough time replacing Rashard Higgins in 2016, but the next entrant solved that concern all by himself.
Michael Gallup burst onto the scene and made for himself a pretty convincing argument as the Mountain West’s best wide receiver. He finished first or second in catches (76), receiving yards (1,272) and receiving touchdowns (14) while also maintaining a 64% catch rate.
Like the rest of the Rams offense, Gallup finished on about as high a note as you can reach by ending the season with eight straight 90-plus-yard games (five straight with at least 100 yards) and eight straight with a touchdown catch. If he took the conference by storm last fall, he probably won’t catch opponents sleeping on him anymore… but he’ll find a way to create big plays in the spotlight, anyway.
