Arizona (0-0) vs. Northern Arizona (0-0) Game Preview
One Reason Why Northern Arizona Will Win
Northern Arizona wasn’t any good last year – going 5-6 and getting blown out by Arizona State early on – but its offense was fabulous, coming top with close to 476 yards per game thanks to a high-powered passing attack.
Six different Lumberjacks combined to throw for 34 touchdown passes and just nine picks. Get ready for the bombing to start right away against what should be an improved, but still unproven, Arizona secondary.
Injuries were the problem for the Wildcat last season, but the defensive backs have to show they can start making more plays. Considering NAU is going to be accurate and aggressive, a defense that allowed teams to hit 66% of their throws has to immediately be a whole lot better.
One Reason Why Arizona Will Win
Relatively healthy compared to last year’s nightmare, look out – the running game is about to explode again.
Brandon Dawkins appears to be the main man under center after a long quarterback battle – but Khalil Tate might still see time – and while the passing game has to be better and more efficient, it won’t matter,
Get ready for the Wildcat ground game to gash the NAU front seven from the start with plenty of home runs from Nick Wilson and a backfield poised to break out. The O is going to work.
What’s Going To Happen
Arizona will show off just enough defense to be fine. Again, the offense will be terrific as it takes over early on and keeps control throughout.
Can the defense keep NAU’s passing game down? Yeah, it’ll do just enough to make this easy, but it’ll give up a few long scoring drives.
