– 2017 CFN MAC Preview: Get Back To New Year’s Six
2017 CFN Preseason MAC Offensive Player of the Year
QB Logan Woodside, Sr. Toledo
Who was the most efficient quarterback in college football last year? Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield. Who was No. 2? It was Woodside, who led the nation with 45 touchdown passes averaging close to ten yards per throw.
While he’s not all that big, he’s got a great deep arm, spreads the ball around well, and helped the Rockets keep up in game after game as a consistent star. As the leader of – likely – the MAC’s best team, and with WMU’s Zach Terrell gone, this should be Woodside’s season.
2017 CFN Preseason MAC Defensive Player of the Year
LB Quentin Poling, Sr. Ohio
But watch out for Buffalo linebacker Khalil Hodge, among a slew of other linebackers and several great defensive backs. The 6-0, 235-pound Poling was a decent pass rusher with four sacks, and was a regular in the backfield to go along with 109 tackles. He’s been one of the MAC’s top defenders for the last few years. If Ohio is going to get back to the MAC title game, he’ll once again be one of the main reasons.
