2017 CFN Preseason Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year

QB J.T. Barrett, Sr. Ohio State

Penn State RB Saquon Barkley might be the Big Ten’s main man if he can stay in one piece and do it for a whole season – he only ran for 100 yards twice in Big Ten play – but Barrett should finally be the one who starts to get credit for running yet another strong Ohio State attack.

While he had his problems at times, when the passing game wasn’t working, he carried the team on the ground – and he’ll do it again. He’ll have to deal with a slew of new receivers, and the numbers might not be there compared to the top bomber quarterbacks across the country, but for what he does, he’ll be as effective as any conductor of any O.

2017 CFN Preseason Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year

DE Tyquan Lewis, Sr. Ohio State

The star of a defensive front dominated by the best group of pass rushers in college football, the 6-4, 265-pound veteran should be the lead destroyer in the pack. He put off the NFL a year early and now should be a lock for double-digit sacks and live in opposing backfields. Best of all, he should stay fresh as part of the fantastic rotation.
