All You Really Need To Know About Notre Dame
(ACC) RPI: 23, 5 seed
The Irish gave it a nice run in the ACC Tournament – eventually losing to Duke in the title game – but this looks like a team poised to make yet another big run deep into the second weekend, maybe further. They lead the nation in free throw shooting, don’t turn the ball over, and they move the ball well.
However, they don’t rebound, even with a okay interior presence. If they’re hitting their threes and generating points off of turnovers, they can beat anyone in the tournament.
All You Really Need To Know About Princeton
(Ivy) RPI: 47, 12 seed
The Ivy League champs come in on a 19-game winning streak, ripping past Yale to take the first conference tournament title. Outstanding from three, the Tigers average ten a game while doing a great job of forcing mistakes and not turning the ball over.
Great on the glass and tough up front, they can produce inside and out. But it’ll be all about the three. If they’re hitting 40% or so and get it cranking up, they can hang around with just about anyone.
What’s Going To Happen
It’s simple, Notre Dame. Just keep up the pace on the threes, and you’ll be okay.
Princeton will have a few annoying moments when it goes on a run with a a few bombs in a row to make it interesting, but the Irish should be able to pull away late. Neither team will give the ball away all that often, but Notre Dame will do more on the interior to go along with what they can do from the outside.
Notre Dame will out-Princeton, Princeton.
