All You Really Need To Know About Middle Tennessee
With one of the most impressive performances of the first round, Middle Tennessee ripped through Minnesota 81-72 by crushing the Golden Gophers on the boards and hitting 7-of-13 from three. The defense didn’t force enough mistakes, but it defended well from three and shut down the Gophers after allowing a big second half run.
The Blue Raiders are amazing from the field hitting 49% of their shots, they don’t make a slew of big mistakes, and they’re experienced and tough – they aren’t a fluke in any way as an underseeded 12.
All You Really Need To Know About Butler
The Bulldogs dominated Winthrop up front in the 76-64 win, attacking the glass with five different players coming up with five rebounds or more. They nailed everything from the outside, connecting on 8-of-19 from three and always coming up with the right shot to keep Winthrop at bay.
The Bulldogs hit everything on the inside, aren’t bad from the outside, and force a ton of mistakes and turnovers. They’re going to have to get to Middle Tennessee before it’s able to set up the offense and swing the ball around – they’ve got the D to do that.
What’s Going To Happen
The Blue Raiders will keep everything rolling. They’re not going to make the big mistakes Butler needs, and they’ll get just enough second chance points to overcome the rocky three point shooting. It’ll be one of the most fund games of the tournament in a bit of a shootout.
