All You Really Need To Know About Michigan State

The Spartans roared past Miami with a stunning shooting display hitting 57% in the 78-58 blowout. They looked and played energized and like the team everyone knows and loves from NCAA tournaments past. With 18 assists and  +13 rebound margin including ten offensive boards, it all worked.

This isn’t normally a team that comes up with a ton of steals or cranks up the turnovers, but it moves the ball around as well as anyone, blocks plenty of shots, and as shown against the Hurricanes, has enough athleticism to crank up big runs.

All You Really Need To Know About Kansas

The Jayhawks got past the Josh Jackson controversy to roar past UC Davis 100-62 in a layup of a first round win. They hit 56% from the floor, nailed 11-of-25 from three, and did whatever they wanted in the mismatch. That was the Kansas team that was No. 1 for a large part of the season, and that was the Kansas that looked and played like a potential national champion.

Amazing from three, the Jayhawks hit 41% on the year, can own the interior, and are fantastic in transition. What they don’t do well is hit free throws, but that hasn’t been too much of a problem. There’s no real weakness to expose. They’re explosive, tough, and able to handle any style.

What’s Going To Happen

Just how for real is that Michigan State performance against Miami? It might be a team just waiting to break out at the right time, but the inability to create turnovers against a Kansas team that doesn’t make mistakes is going to be a problem.

Both teams pass well, finds the open man, and can hit from the outside, but the Jayhawks do everything better. Kansas is going to keep playing inspired basketball, with more firepower down the stretch.
