Stanford Cardinal Recruiting Class Overview
There weren’t too many needs with this year’s class after coming up with a big haul last year, but the Cardinal loaded up with a special group of high-end talents. This is the quality-more-than-quantity class, getting two of the nation’s best offensive linemen in Foster Sarell and Walker Little, arguably the top quarterback prospect in the nation in Davis Mills, and a few other potential all-stars to build up over the next few seasons. There was little wasted motion – Stanford crushed it when it came to the high-end guys they targeted.
The Stanford Cardinal Class Is Heavy On …
Offensive tackle. Recruiting is always a crapshoot – the idea is to recruit as many good players as possible, and hope a few of them work out to be better than expected. Stanford, though, doesn’t make mistakes when it comes to offensive linemen. The factory cranks out all-star after all-star, pro prospect after pro prospect, and this year, it might have two NFL tackles who could be ready to make a splash early on. If Sarell isn’t the best offensive tackle recruit in the country, it’s Little, with both bringing the right size, the right frame, and the right feet for the position.
The Star of the Stanford Cardinal Class Is …
OT Foster Sarell, 6-6, 300, Graham, WA – Again, flip a coin on Sarell or Little who’s the star of this show. Shockingly athletic for a player of his size, he moves like a bulked up tight end while fitting the Stanford mold of being able to blast away for the running game. Name the Pac-12 school, or the elite national program – Alabama being front and center – and he was wanted. He’s exactly what you’re looking for in an offensive tackle prospect.
The Stanford Cardinal Biggest 2017 Depth Chart Hole Is …
The right side of the offensive line. The Farm has become a factory for offensive linemen, and a few future stars are coming in this class, but the only area of slight concern for a loaded 2017 team should be the right side of the line, losing solid guard Johnny Caspers along with tackle David Bright.
