2017 West Virginia Mountaineers Football Schedule
Realistic Best Case Scenario

Can the Mountaineers beat Virginia Tech? Do that in a bowl-like season-opener in Landover, and there’s a shot at a huge start with three winnable games going into October. With a week off to prepare for TCU on the road, WVU should be ready for a key battle that’s a must-win. Take down the Horned Frogs, and with Texas Tech at home up next, and with Oklahoma State in Morgantown, Big 12 title hopes would stay alive if WVU wins the games it should. Closing out at Kansas State, against Texas, and at Oklahoma to close things out will be rough. The best case scenario? 10-2 in a dream, 9-3 is more likely.

Realistic Worst Case Scenario

The Mountaineers lose to Virginia Tech and can’t find a groove. They can’t get by TCU or Baylor on the road early, and they’ll need to fight and claw in November just to get to six wins and bowl eligibility. If they’re 4-4 going into the final month, it’ll be a total disaster considering the big boys to finish things up after Iowa State, but realistically, the worst case scenario is a 6-6 campaign.
