All You Really Need To Know About USC
USC’s great ride keeps on rolling, getting into the First Four by the skin of its teeth, got into the big tournament with a win over Providence, and then stunned SMU to move on. Great from behind, it finds ways to pick away and get back in games, and then hang on late, outscoring the Mustangs 36-27 in the second half of the 66-65 win.
The Trojans are great on the inside, blocking over five shots a game and they’re active on the boards from several spots. They’re careful with the ball, own the assist to turnover ratio, and hit their free throws. Just good enough from three, strong on the line, and terrific on the move, they can score in every way.
All You Really Need To Know About Baylor
Down two at the half, Baylor cranked out a huge second half to blow away New Mexico State 91-73. The Bears crushed the Aggies on the boards 39-27 and owned everything on the glass with a 39-27 rebounding margin.
The Bears own the boards, ranking fourth in the nation in rebounding margin with an active front court that gets after everything. Combine that with the solid shooting from inside and out, and the great ball movement, and it’s a complete offensive team. While the D doesn’t force a ton of turnovers, it only allows 63 points per game.
What’s Going To Happen
USC has the confidence, and the rebounding ability to hang with the Baylor front court. Getting down doesn’t seem to matter to this bunch, going on big runs and hitting the key three at the right time. Baylor has the right makeup, but the problems from three will prove costly late. Once again, USC will find a way.
