What’s The Deal With Michigan?

The Wolverines overcame a rotten first half against Louisville to comeback roaring in a thrilling 73-game 69 win. They hit 49% of their shots with Moritz Wagner playing out of his mind, hitting 11-of-14 from the field for 26 points, but he was just a part of the offensive onslaught.

The Big Ten Tournament champs have been on a tear, with the offense cranking it up with lights out shooting in game after game during the seven-game winning streak. They bomb away from the outside, they have an uncanny knack for coming through with the clutch run at the right time. The Wolverine don’t rebound, though – and lost the battle on the boards to the Cardinals – but it didn’t matter in the second half.

What’s The Deal With Oregon?

The Ducks survived a miserable first half against Rhode Island, coming through with a late Tyler Dorsey three pointer to pull off the 75-72 win. Hitting 7-of-16 from three – with Dorsey making 4-of-5 on the way to 27 points – they were able to overcome a huge day from the URI offense that hit 51% of their shots. The biggest difference? Free throws. Oregon hit 18, the Rams only got eight attempts.

Oregon has scoring punch from the outside, but its the defensive intensity that makes the big difference, turning it up just when they need to the most – it’s a clutch team on both sides of the ball. One of the best shooting teams in the country, and usually careful with the ball, they’re not going to flinch when Michigan goes on a run.

What’s Going To Happen

Michigan has been able to get away with being outrebounded, but it’s going to be a real problem against the Ducks. The bigger issue will be playing a team that can crank up the firepower, too. Louisville might have a dangerous offense, but it was just okay from the outside – that’s not going to be a problem for Oregon. Get ready to have some fun.
