Welcome to the first look and picks for the opening week games of the 2017 college football season. These quick thoughts are being done in early June, with the real Fearless Prediction and expanded breakdown coming in August.
Early June First Thought: What’s Going To Happen?
There was a time when these two played huge battles as two of the top MAC programs. Now, of course, Marshall is trying to get back to being one of the biggest stars in Conference USA – this will be a key start.
This could be a strong mid-level bowl game and no one would blink, and now it’ll be one of the more fascinating under-the-radar battles of the first week.
Can Miami keep the momentum going from a fantastic second half of last season that turned the program around? QB Gus Ragland turned into a burgeoning star, but there’s more to this RedHawk team.
Miami has a strong enough defensive back seven to pull this off, as the team establishes itself as one of the main players in the MAC.
Marshall, though, has all the pressure after its disastrous 3-9 season following a ten-win 2015. Will this be back to the Thundering Herd program that was one of the most productive Group of Five stars?
Lose at home to the RedHawks, and it’ll be uh-oh time in Huntington again.
